Xero's annual conference, XeroCon, provides a good opportunity to keep up to date with new announcements from the small business accounting software provider. This year has been no exception, with a number of new practical features announced at the conference:

• Xero email-to-bills, a popular machine learning feature for Xero bills, is being expanded to extract and automatically populate details from any email PDF bill into Xero, saving businesses hours each month on data entry.
• A new, more intuitive invoicing experience, tapping into machine learning insights for each business, making it easier to invoice customers and speed up time to pay.
• Powerful Xero Projects integration which enables users to share timesheet information across both features, saving time and ensuring a single source of truth.
• The Xero mobile app dashboard now has more relevant information at your finger tips.
• ETP payment summary functionality within the Xero payroll module.
• Single Touch Payroll compliance.
• Upcoming features include the ability to lodge BAS's directly from Xero to the ATO and automatic reconciliation of bank account transaction items.

We note also that 2 Factor Authentication (mobile authentication when logging into Xero in your browser) will be mandatory March 2019. For more information please view this Xero blog post.
